Bharata Dance & Allied Arts presents

Life of Pi

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2019 - 3PM

Life of Pi is the retelling of Yann Martel's best selling novel of the same name through the south Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam. As in the book, the dance concert follows the story of Pi, a 16 year old Indian boy who finds himself alone in a boat with an adult Bengal Tiger for 227 days after a shipwreck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Pi's journey forms most of the story, making us rethink the place of faith in the modern world.

Adaptation of the Yann Martel’s book through choreography was created by Ganesh Vasudeva, a dancer and choreographer from San Francisco. The concert also features an original music composition by Snigdha Venkataramani. Dancers are Aishwarya Venkat, Ganesh Vasudeva, Nitya Narasimhan, Roopa Suresh, and Shreya Iyer.

Ganesh Vasudeva as Pi, the title role, shook the audience and bonded with them intimately.
