Dazaun Soleyn: The Bridge: Dance and Poetry Workshop

Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5:00-8:00PM

Brava Cabaret

Join longtime collaborators and friends dazaun soleyn and Jordon Ellis Dabney for a workshop that weaves together movement and poetry in a creative, welcoming, and community-centered space.

Open to all experience levels, this workshop invites participants to explore writing, storytelling, and movement practices through the theme of water as a source of healing, memory, resilience, and transformation. Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in guided movement improvisation, creative writing prompts, group reflection, and collaborative exercises that explore how dance and poetry can work together to tell stories. Together, we will investigate how movement and language can express personal histories, ancestral memory, and community experiences. At a time when many communities are navigating displacement, isolation, and the loss of creative gathering spaces, this workshop offers an opportunity to slow down, connect, and create together across disciplines and lived experiences. Participants will leave with creative tools for developing poetry and movement rooted in their own stories and communities. Whether you are new to dance and writing or already have an established practice, this workshop creates space for experimentation, reflection, and collective expression. You may attend one workshop or both.

Reserve your free space now! Enrollment is limited to 20 students for this workshop. This free workshop designed for adults 18+.

This arts workshop is made possible with support from the Community Challenge Grant.
