To celebrate the 15th anniversary of her debut album, Vows, Kimbra returns to the songs that marked her coming of age and introduced her music to the world.
For these special, intimate performances, she’ll revisit Vows, stripping the songs back and reimagining them through the lens of time passed.
Beginning with Vows, she will share stories about what inspired the songs then and what they mean to her now. Ending in the present, Kimbra will share a glimpse of what comes next, with new songs from the album she is currently creating.
About Kimbra
Across five studio albums, Kimbra has built a career around restless transformation. The New Zealand-born, two-time Grammy Award winner moves fluidly between art-pop, electronic music, R&B, jazzand experimental composition, bringing the instincts of a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and fearless live performer to every project.
Her 2011 debut,Vows, reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in Australia and New Zealand, earning Kimbra major recognition at both the ARIA Awards and the New ZealandMusic Awards including best female artist two years in a row.
Her collaboration with Gotye on “Somebody That I Used to Know” became a worldwide No. 1 in 18countries and earned Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Rather than repeat that breakthrough, Kimbra used it as permission to explore. Her second album,TheGolden Echo, expanded her musical vocabulary through collaborations with Thundercat, Bilal, JohnLegend and Omar Rodríguez-López.
OnPrimal Heart, she combined intricate electronic production with a more emotionally exposedapproach to songwriting, followed by extensive touring alongside artists including Beck, and DavidByrne.
Her fourth album, 2023’sA Reckoning, was created with Son Lux’s Ryan Lott and transmuted a period of personal and collective upheaval into some of her most direct work.
WithIdols & Vices (Vol. 1), Kimbra turned her attention toward the performance of identity in an increasingly digital culture. The album was created in the style of a mixtape focusing on the collaborations exploring themes of celebrity worship, self-invention and the seductive pull of online personas.
Featuring artists including BANKS, Dawn Richard and DRAM, the record also reconnects Kimbra with the musical influences and collaborative spirit that first shaped her.
Kimbra’s live career has taken her from intimate experimental performances to major television and festival stages, including Saturday Night Live, David Letterman, Coachella ,Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Austin City Limits.
She has continued to expand her practice beyond traditional album cycles through her podcast, Playing With Fire, visual art and poetry through her Substack and mentorship in production and songwriting.
As Vows reaches its 15th anniversary in 2026, Kimbra is revisiting the album not simply as a milestone, but as living material. Through reimagined performance, and a renewed conversation with the listeners who have grown alongside the record, she is considering how songs change as both artist and audience move through time.
Currently working on her sixth album, she continues to develop new music sound and visual worlds, extending a career defined not by genre, but by curiosity, connection and constant reinvention.
