This June, Indómitas celebrates, Cenia Seidman an Afro-Honduran woman whose story reflects perseverance, hard work, and pride in her roots.

Cenia Seidman
Cenia Seidman es una mujer afrohondureña cuya historia refleja la perseverancia, el trabajo duro y el orgullo por sus raíces. Nacida en Honduras, emprendió viaje a California para reunirse con su familia hace más de 35 años en busca de nuevas oportunidades.
Durante más de dos décadas ha trabajado como auxiliar dental, dedicando su carrera al cuidado de la salud bucal y al servicio de su comunidad. Además de atender a sus pacientes, participa en programas de voluntariado y comparte sus conocimientos con futuros profesionales de la odontología, y brinda atención bucal a comunidades desfavorecidas.
Impulsada por el amor a su cultura y tradiciones, fundó Cocotillas, un emprendimiento inspirado en las recetas familiares hondureñas de tortillas y pan de coco. A través de este proyecto, mantiene viva la herencia afrohondureña y comparte los sabores de su tierra con nuevas generaciones.
Madre orgullosa de dos hijas, Cenia representa el espíritu de muchas mujeres inmigrantes que, con esfuerzo, educación y determinación, han construido una vida de éxito mientras preservan y celebran sus raíces culturales.
ENGLISH
Cenia Seidman is an Afro-Honduran woman whose story reflects perseverance, hard work, and pride in her roots. Born in Honduras, she embarked on a journey to California to reunite with her family more than 35 years ago in search of new opportunities.
For more than two decades, she has worked as a dental assistant, dedicating her career to oral health care and serving her community. In addition to treating her patients, she participates in volunteer programs, shares her knowledge with future dental professionals, and provides essential oral care to underserved communities.
Driven by her love for her culture and traditions, she founded Cocotillas, a business inspired by Honduran family recipes for tortillas and coconut bread. Through this project, she keeps her Afro-Honduran heritage alive and shares the flavors of her homeland with new generations.
A proud mother of two daughters, Cenia embodies the spirit of many immigrant women who, through hard work, education, and determination, have built successful lives while preserving and celebrating their cultural roots.
