Indómitas is a live monthly podcast series hosted by Chelis López of KPOO and Radio Bilingüe, featuring untamable voices of fierce women artists and activists. For the December 2023 podcast, Indómitas will interview Eda Zavala, anthropologist, sociologist, healer and wisdom keeper.

Eda Zavala es antropóloga, socióloga, curandera y guardiana de la sabiduría.
Ha venido trabajando incansablemente para proteger las tierras indígenas y la madre tierra.
Durante los últimos 12 años ha estado trabajando con la gente Shawi, un pueblo indígena de la Amazonía peruana que habla la lengua chayahuita que forma parte de las lenguas cahuapana.
Las tierras tradicionales Shawi han sido robadas por madereros y mineros ilegales, y no pueden cosechar las plantas medicinales de las que siempre han dependido.
Eda compartirá sobre sus orígenes, infancia, y sus luchas en defensa de la tierra, así como la medicina natural.

Eda Zavala is an anthropologist, sociologist, healer and wisdom keeper.
She has been working tirelessly to protect indigenous lands and mother earth.
For the last 12 years she has been working with the Shawi, an indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon who speak the Chayahuita language which is part of the Cahuapana languages.
Traditional Shawi lands have been stolen by illegal loggers and miners, and they are unable to harvest the medicinal plants they have always depended on.
Eda will share her origins, her struggles in defense of the land and natural medicine.
