Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 5:00-8:00PM
Brava Cabaret
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create a three-dimensional lantern for your favorite cozy corner using paper, scissors, craft blades, and glue.
Take home your own papercut lantern illuminated by a battery-operated tea light. Bring one to four ideas, themes, or simple images that you want to put on your four-sided lantern. This workshop is suitable for ages 12 and up. No prior art experience is necessary. Basic interpretation in Spanish or Chinese can be available (please request during registration). Christine Wong Yap (BFA & MFA, California College of the Arts) is a visual artist and social practitioner whose projects included lanterns displayed in Chinatown and the Mission District this past winter, and banners which appeared in the 2023 Chinese New Year Parade.
