Directed by Lisa Marie Rollins

AUGUST 7 - 23, 2018

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

When Zahra was eleven year old, she figured out how to guarantee her passage to heaven. There was only one problem... Performed live by Zahra Noorbakhsh at Oakland's historic Paramount Theater Music Composed by Alex Mandel and performed by Alex Mandel, Tim Frick, and David Brandt

Iranian-American comedian Zahra Noorbakhsh is speaking up and out on behalf of all Muslims and for everyone. There will be so much educating! You’re welcome.

Zahra’s voice is an asset in the polarizing and often violent political turmoil we live in as Americans today.
— W. Kamau Bell

In her signature inquisitive and unapologetic comedic style, Zahra dives into her colonized mind and her budding queerness. She explores her relationships with her superior immigrant parents, her mediocre white husband, and her unhealthy obsessions with TED talks, Jaws, and Corey Feldman.

This August, join Zahra for a work in development, as she builds her comedy special with each new audience. Every night is framed with a different theme and features a new set of stories.

This project is partially supported by a grant from by Theatre Bay Area.

Comedian Zahra Noorbakhsh performs LIVE at the NYC Comic Strip for Muslim Funny Fest 2015. ZAHRA NOORBAKHSH is a Feminist Muslim, Iranian-American comedian. Her one woman show, "All Atheists are Muslim" was directed by W. Kamau Bell and was dubbed a highlight of the Int'l New York City Fringe Theater Festival by the New Yorker Magazine.
