Opening Night Screening! David Cross's Hits
Mr Cross will be in attendance.
Post film party features Conspiracy Of Beards ( an all male Leonard Cohen Tribute Choir) and Jerk Church Tabernacle Choir. for the Opening Night screening on 2/5.
Hits is the first feature film written and directed by comedy legend David Cross (Mr. Show with Bob and David, Arrested Development). When a video of a humble municipal worker’s city council rant goes viral, a small town in upstate New York becomes an incubator for widespread delusions of grandeur. Soon, opportunistic news crews, clueless urban bohemians, and downwardly mobile hillbillies swarm this once idyllic hamlet, competing head-to-head for a shot at the real American dream: monetized web content. This trenchant satire features a killer’s row of comic actors, including Matt Walsh, James Adomian, Wyatt Cenac, and Michael Cera. - Mike Keegan
San Francisco’s Conspiracy of Beards is a 30 member male choir that performs dynamic, original, a cappella arrangements of the poetic songs of Leonard Cohen. Well dressed in suits, ties, and the occasional fedora, the choir brings an energized live choral music experience out of churches and tabernacles and into the taverns, art houses, and theaters of the Bay Area and beyond. Transforming Cohen’s lyrics and simple melodies into complex 4- and 5-part harmonies, and with a wide variety of small ensemble and full choir pieces, Conspiracy of Beards achieves a sound that is both robust and tender.
The Jerk Church hymnal includes psalms by artists such as: Flogging Molly, Cee Lo Green, Pogues, Johnny Cash, Devil Makes Three, Old Crow Medicine Show and traditional blues and Irish songs.
