Called “resonant” by the Washington Post, GLACIER: A Climate Ballet is a critically-acclaimed multimedia ballet performance that turns climate change into a live emotional experience. Part of the Global Climate Action Summit, GLACIER unveils a world affected by climate change by placing a changing Arctic environment in front of the audience. The dancers ripple, crack and plunge, embodying the science behind icecap collapse in a poignant elegy to ice.

GLACIER is choreographed by DC-based climate change policy analyst and former ballet dancer Diana Movius with a moving video backdrop by Robin Bell, a visual artist known for his #resist projections on Trump Hotel. GLACIER marks the San Francisco premier of the production and of MOVEIUS Contemporary Ballet, a rapidly-rising ensemble from Washington, DC.

Diana Movius’s choreography is just allusive enough to echo and refract the images that surge in our minds as we think about global warming’s effects on icy climes. For as long as you watch, at least, awareness of climate change is an emotional experience.
