Cratefull: Heart- Soul - Bars is a sample based. youth-led hip hop album that uses jazz, gospel, and soul as the project’s musical foundation. CrateFull: Heart- Soul- Bars’ lyrics are filled with positive and uplifting messages for the community, featuring various MCs from current and past DJ Project Audio Production Participants.
The album is set to be released on August 10th in Brava's Cabaret Room following a performance from youth involved in the project. Only 100 physical CDs will be available, make sure to come on time and support local, youth-led, hip hop in the Mission District.

More about the DJ Project: Since 2000, The DJ Project (DJP) has leveraged music and hip-hop arts as a platform for meaningful youth engagement. The program serves youth and consists of 3 industry-specific, project-based components: Audio Production, DJing, and Event Production. The Audio Production classes train youth in lyrical composition, beat making, sound engineering, artist relations and development, as well as performance. The DJ class taught by world-renowned Scratch DJ Quest provides cutting edge training in turntabilism, scratching, stage and sound management, as well as live performance. The program's Event Production crew serves as the conduit to the program, providing event design and execution, project management, marketing, publicity, operational and logistical leadership. These programs work collaboratively to provide a multi-disciplinary experience for youth looking for creative expression.
