Tito y su son de Cuba presents the live concert La Vida Te Da Sorpresas (Life gives you surprises) featuring music from Tito Gonzalez’s newly released CD and of course Cuban classics! La Vida Te Da Sorpresas show-cases the Cuban guitarist’s multi-style musicality and rich composition skills. It’s a “cornucopia of upbeat high energy Afro-Cuban rhythms, son and romance boleros,” with hints of rhumba and son-montuno. All of these styles of music have washed up on the shores of Cuba, been infused with Cuban spices, and become part of the genre of World music.

Tito’s boleros are sensuously bittersweet when sung in his smooth baritone voice. The full-bodied melodic mix of “call and response” between the piano, vocals, congas, and horns, commands the listener’s attention. From the first blast of the horns you’ll be musically transported to Havana, hips swaying under the shade of a palm tree, until the final piano riff in the last song.

Tito is a second-generation heir of Buena Vista Social Club. He studied with Buena Vista Social Club, Tres master Papi Oviedo, and with the greatest guitarist in Cuba, Octavio Sanchez Cotan. Traditional Cuban “Son” music is the foundation for La Vida Te Da Sorpresas.
