Brava's ED Honored by SF Board of Supervisors

"Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives"

Annually, members of the Board of Supervisors recognize one woman from each District who are courageous leaders improving the quality of life for San Franciscans. This year District 9 Supervisor David Campos has nominated Brava's Executive Director Anastacia Powers Cuellar as the 2015 honoree for District 9 for her work over the past 3 years in raising 2 million dollars and securing Brava Theater Center's future in the neighborhood.

In attendance at the ceremony, in support of Stacie's work, were many Mission luminaries and friends, including Stacie's husband musician, Dr. Jose "Dr. Loco" Cuellar; Notable Mission District Artists Ester Hernandez and Rene Yañez; Carnaval's Roberto Hernandez; Playwright Foundation's Amy Mueller and Golden Thread's Michelle Mulholland, who both have a history with Brava; Mission District Cultural Preservationist, Erick Arguello and Brava's Staff.
 
Other 2015 honorees included Larkin Street Youth Services' Sherilyn Adams; Emerge California's Kimberly Ellis; Maria Carolina Morales of Community United Against Violence (CUAV) and SF Women Aaginst Violence.
